The Weekly Quickie: Black Gene for the Next Scene, Cardia, Calmando Qual, GALLO, MeteoroiD, Mardelas, D, MERRY
The end of 2015 is turning into a real bummer with yet another batch of lineup changes and disbandments. Black Gene for the Next Scene has announced they will stop all activities following their live at Ebisu Liquidroom on April 10. It seems they are avoiding the word ‘disbandment’ and they express in their comments the desire to reunite as a stronger BFN, so perhaps there is hope for a return in the future.
Cardia will also be calling it quits early next year. They haven’t given a lot of specifics, though. Their statement simply says they will be disbanding in January. No news on final shows or any last releases as of yet.
One of my favorite Starwave bands, Calmando Qual have also announced their disbandment after a 15 year run. Announced via twitter, vocalist Hibiki expressed his thanks for the fan’s support throughout their career. They still have a ways to go before their last live which will be held at Takadanobaba AREA on June 6, so make sure to catch them while you can.
And, one that hits me right in my little black heart, guitarist Hikaru of GALLO has announced his departure from the band as of November 12 at Nagoya HOLIDAY NEXT. It seems all his social media accounts have already been wiped, save for this announcement, with the exception of his Instagram. The band intends to continue with four members, so please continue to support them.
MeteoroiD have announced the release of a best album titled BULLETBOX on February 10. As you probably know, the band recently reformed with a new concept and sound and this best album is guaranteed to contain at least one re-recorded track, Little Boy, from before their transformation. Can we expect to see more of their previous work re-done in their new style? Fingers crossed, cuz that would be cool as hell. The group will commemorate the release with a free one-man tour titled BULLETMARK which will hit Ikebukuro, Shinsaibashi and Nagoya. Check the homepage for details.
If you caught Mardelas on Halloween weekend at Oni-Con Galveston, I’m sure you’ll be excited to hear that they have a new single on the way. The single will be titled Thousand Cranes and, while there is no release date or further information available as of yet, I’m sure it will be stellar.
Another of my personal favs, D, has announced another Alice in Wonderland-inspired single titled MASTER KEY. The single releases December 9 with all kinds of special goodies if you dish out for all four types. Are you guys loving that white rabbit as much as I am? <3
In overseas news, European fans of MERRY, rejoice! The group have announced they will be paying you a visit in early 2016. No details have been announced as of yet, but make sure to follow their newly-established Instagram account, @merryofficial, to keep up with the latest developments. And, it’s in English! Bonus!
And, that’s the Quickie. Hasta la bai bai!
