The Weekly Quickie: BORN, SCREW, AN CAFE, CODOMO DRAGON, GIGAMOUS, Re:My Bacteria Heat Island, The Alternative
We’ll start off this week with a blast of new releases. BORN has a new single coming out on February 10 titled Suicidal Market ~doze of hope~. The single releases in four editions, two containing footage from their Alternative Tarantula Tour.
SCREW celebrate their 10th Anniversary this year and how better to commemorate the event than with a best album. The album is titled BRILLIANT and is set to release this spring. Their 10th Anniversary Tour, NEVERENDING BREATH -time goes by so brilliant-, kicks off April 1 at Shibuya REX with the final on April 23 at Tsutaya O-East.
AN CAFE have not one, but two singles slated for release early this year. The first, a live DVD chronicling two lives titled ANCAFESTA’15 “SUMMER DIVE” / LIVE CAFE 2015 Natsu “Nagai de Nyappy 2”~ROAD OF MAJOR~. The two-disc DVD releases February 9. Just a month later, their newest single, Jibun, releases on March 16.
CODOMO DRAGON announced the release of a new maxi-single, HEMLOCK, dropping March 30. The single releases in four types, two limited and two regular, and if you buy all four types, you get a ‘tour pamphlet present’ commemorating their tour, Drink up the Hemlock, which runs April 3 through August 9.
GIGAMOUS just announced the release of their first full-length album, Super Strong Magnets, on May 18. The release is to be followed by a nationwide tour kicking off on May 21 at Fukuoka Drum Son and ending at Tsutaya O-West on June 26.
Remember when all of MY BACTERIA ISLAND’s members jumped ship, leaving TenTen all on his own? Not to be discouraged, TenTen is back with an all new crew. Going under the name Re:My Bacteria Heat Island, the group is slated for a comeback on April 2. It seems, however, that the new members are credited only as support and the band is reforming as a TenTen solo project. Strange? We’ll let you know how things shape up.
New Band Alert! As if those A9 boys aren’t busy enough, it seems their rhythm section has decided to take on a project of their own. Nao and Saga have formed a unit called THE ALTERNATIVE. This two-man unit only has one show scheduled so far at Shimokitazawa ERA on March 13. If you are a fan of the drum and bass like I am, this is a must-see performance. If you are in the area, don’t miss your chance to see these two shine.
