The Weekly Quickie: D, Femme Fatale, Dir en grey, Jupiter, X-Japan, DIAURA, Angelo, Shiobara Yasutaka
Prepare for fangirling in 3….2…..1…..
D IS BACK!! That’s right. While the rest of America was celebrating 4th of July, I was celebrating the return of D with the announcement of a new single and fall tour. As I’m sure you remember, D took a hiatus in December of last year to allow frontman, ASAGI, to seek treatment for TMJ. Well, he’s back and raring to go! Titled, Happy Unbirthday, the Alice in Wonderland-themed single is scheduled to drop sometime in September, the corresponding one-man tour kicking of on August 29 at Akasaka BLITZ. I can’t WAIT to hear ASAGI’s voice again.
In tour news, Femme Fatale has announced they will be making an appearance in the US at Pacific Media Expo on September 5. The group will participate in a panel, autograph session and, of course, a live performance. The convention takes place September 5-7 at Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena, California. Registration is happening now, so get your tickets early for a cheaper price.
Dir en grey and Jupiter have also announced an overseas appearance, this time at Japan Live 2015 in Mexico City. The live takes place November 7 at Plaza Condesa. Though they’re not up yet, tickets will be available via Ticketmaster and don’t let the numbers on that image fool you. Those are pesos, not US dollars. ^^
FINALLY X-Japan has announced a release date for their long-awaited new album. For a minute there, I thought it wasn’t really going to happen, but it has been officially announced for March 11, 2016. They will also be holding a live on March 12 at SSE Arena Wembley in London. We have no other information at this time, but I would suggest marking your calendars and saving your pennies, because it is guaranteed to sell out fast. Track information on this release and any further announcements using the hashtag #XDAY.
To celebrate their fifth anniversary, DIAURA has announced the release of their first BEST album, Incomplete, on December 15. Their fifth anniversary one-man tour, Route of Infection, starts the day after it’s release at Ebisu Liquidroom and will take them all the way through the new year, ending at Zepp Diver City on January 22.
Angelo has also announced a pair of releases, titled FACTOR and RESULT. There’s not much information on these as of yet, just a vague release date of September and December respectively and that each will contain six tracks.
And, this week’s New Band Alert comes as quite a surprise. Remember when SCREW’s bassist, Rui, dropped out with plans to quit music and become a fashion designer? Well…he’s baaaaaaaack. The bassist-turned-fashionista has returned with a new solo project under his given name, Shiobara Yasutaka, where he plays guitar and sings. His first album, -overture-, drops September 16 through Tower Records. Check out the preview above and let us know what you think. I am….not a fan.
Anywho…that’s the Quickie. Love you long time! <3
