I’ll start off this week with the master of, well, everything, Dir en grey frontman, Kyo. As most hardcore DEG fans probably already know, Kyo has been hard at work on another poetry anthology. Titled Gasou no Shi, the book is slated to release in limited quantities in late August with a deluxe edition including a 200-page, full color, hardbound anthology and a DVD containing a personal interview with Kyo that will run you about 8500yen. You can reserve your copy here starting tomorrow. If you happen to be in Japan, check out Kyo’s one man exhibition at GALLERY LE DECO held August 19-23 where you can pick up an early copy. Check the homepage for further details.
Blu-BiLLioN have announced their first Japan tour as well as their involvement in a TV live action drama. The tour will promote their second album, GENESIS, and will kick off at Shinyokohama NEW SIDE BEACH!! on October 2. The tour includes 13 dates with the final held at Tokyo Mielparque Hall on December 4. They will also be in charge of the theme song for live drama Hakuoki SSL ~sweet school life~ set to start this Fall. All we know is the song will be titled “Refrain,” so keep an eye out for news on any further distribution.
D.I.D. is back with a vengeance with the release of their newest single, W.O.D. II/Fatal Error Race. Only 200 copies will be sold at lives starting August 1, so if you’re in Japan, make sure to grab one. For the rest of us, the single will be available on iTunes starting July 25. But, that’s not all! The group has also announced the release of their second full length album, The Day I Died, in the Spring of next year. They will also be releasing 27 songs in a series of 3-4 songs each month via iTunes leading up to the release. Whether these are the same tracks as the album is unclear, but I’m excited either way.
Shounenki have announced the release of a new single, WEAKNESS_MY BLOOD, in four editions. But, there’s a catch. Two of the four versions will only be available at a certain live. The Tokyo edition will only be sold at the live held at Tsutaya O-West on September 9 and the Osaka edition will be sold at Osaka Muse on September 12. The Limited and Regular edition release on September 2 through all the usual channels.
And, in case you missed it, our friends at J-Rock North Promotions will be bringing FLOW to Canada for not one, but TWO shows in Canada. They will appear at Animethon 22 on August 7 in Edmonton, Alberta and Otakuthon 2015 in Montreal. The boys are excited to meet you, so grab your tickets now to join the fun!
I rarely use this column to simply plug the release of a new PV, but it’s a slow news week so why not. Not to mention, it’s AWESOME. JILUKA released the PV for “Twisted Pain” this week, the second track off of their latest album, DESTRIEB. This song is heavy metal goodness if I ever heard it. Check out the PV above and make sure to pick up the album when it releases on August 5.
And, that’s the Quickie! Smoke ’em if ya got ’em.
